Tech News Today listeners you and I have been deceived. it was widely reported - including right here on this show that Apple purchased wireless headphone maker Wi-Gear. But the company's CEO went on the record saying that Apple did not purchase them, that they have ceased operatins but their IP and company are stll fr sale. ANd I for one think this was a ploy by Tom Merritt to get me to rattle off the name of wi-gear's flagship product.... iMuffs
The New York Times is going to give eBooks their own best seller list. Starting in early 2011 sales data will be collected weekly from a variety of sources, including publishers, chain bookstores, independent booksellers and online retailers. I guess since there aren't any more books in "the girl with the dragon tattoo series" ebook best seleers will finally open up for other titles- maybe?
HP is starting to seem like that one friend who's always overdramatically in trouble. A federal fraud investigation found that HP contractors had lavished gifts on Dallas and Houston school officials in order to win contracts funded by the government's E-Rate program. Hewlett-Packard has agreed to pay $16.25 million to settle the investigation.
The famed Mystery 'Missile' off LA's coast that was thought to be a top secret military test by some hyper dramatic local newscasters was actually Identified As US Airways Flight 808- We here at TNT did point this probablitiy out and despite the fact that I am a TV bimbo by day and a geek podcaster by night I am proud to say we got it right over here at TNT folks!

The company said it will be the biggest single fleet purchase of electric vehicles so far.
When your app gets rejected by the iTunes app store- you are bummed, When Steve jobs calls you to explain- you are pretty stoked. Jobs personally called developer Ram Arum-ugam after he had his app, "Economy for iPad," rejected by Apple. you see arum-agan came across a bug in the Apple SDK that caused a zombie keyboard to pop up in his app, he wrote an api to get around it, Apple forbids third party API's hence the rejection. But after Jobs call explaining all this Arum-agan was struck by a bolt of inspiration and found a work around- happy ending, app approved!

Speaking to attendees of BMO Capital Markets Digital Entertainment Conference in New York, Dennis Durkin, corporate vice president and chief operating and financial officer of Microsoft's Interactive Entertainment Business, said that 40 percent of Xbox Live members in the U.S. are spending their time on the console on non-gaming activities. "Dear TNT gang,
You may recall the case of Paul Chambers who was arrested and convicted in January this year for making a twitter post threatening to blow up Robin Hood Airport. His original post read; ""Crap! Robin Hood airport is closed. You've got a week and a bit to get your shit together otherwise I'm blowing the airport sky high!!"".
Today lost his appeal against that conviction.
http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk/2010/nov/11/twitter-joke-trial-appeal-verdict
During the appeal his defence raised the issue that the guilty verdict at his original trail was akin to prosecuting the British Poet Sir John Betjeman for the line ""Come, friendly bombs, and fall on Slough!"" in his 1937 poem 'Slough'. The poem caused an uproar when first published, but Betjeman, who was protest the building of factories in the English town of Slough, was never arrested or charged with inciting attacks on the Slough.
The Judge found that the the twitter post contained menace and Chambers must have known that it might be taken seriously. Justice may be blind, but it clearly has no sense of humour.
Regards, Conor from London (but currently in Dublin)."
"Hi,
Not sure if you've seen this already.
35,369 UK citizens signed a petition asking the Prime Minister to abolish the proposed law that will see alleged illegal filesharers disconnected from their broadband connections, without a fair trial: http://petitions.number10.gov.uk/dontdisconnectus/
UK government responded by stating that ""The Act ... includes a reserve power to introduce further “technical” measures if the initial measures do not succeed. These technical measures would limit or restrict an infringers’ access to the internet. They do not include disconnection.""
Full reply to petition here: http://www.hmg.gov.uk/epetition-responses/petition-view.aspx?epref=dontdisconnectus
Seems like we got hot & bothered about nothing? Love to hear what you think about this.
Love the show!!
Thanks, Adam"
"Howdy TNT'ers,
Becky asked about discerning the difference between 120hz vs. 240hz tvs, and it's all about sports. The moment I watch any fast motion on an LCD I can tell which is a 120 vs a 240 set, although fast motion still looks worse on even the best LCD than it does on a plasma. I'm sticking with my Pioneer Kuro until it quits or until I can buy an 50-inch OLED tv without a second mortgage and a background check.
Pax, Regi"
